Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of the Battery Prototype Laboratory, the Process Engineer will perform equipment processing, preventative maintenance, repairs, improvements, upgrades, and installations. The Process Engineer will lead alongside the Process/Manufacturing/Equipment Technicians supporting the daily operations and maintenance of the laboratory. The Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the production, monitoring, and data collection for all customer projects, including creating required reports. The Process Engineer will also assist in interactions with students, faculty, and research scientists to support ongoing and future research projects and maintain laboratory supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree (Doctorate degree preferred) in engineering or the natural sciences and 6 months of related work experience. Hands-on experience as part of Graduate research is acceptable.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preferred Education:

  • 4 years of experience in automated equipment operations, troubleshooting battery manufacturing equipment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Practical knowledge and application of electronics, mechanics, math, and computers.

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and the ability to learn the operational concepts of systems, including performing diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to solve more complex operational and system problems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, flow charts, and cause-and-effect drawings.

  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, detail-oriented problem solver, and decision-maker with effective communication skills.

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
