The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a National Director, Digital Fundraising for Direct Response team . Dallas, TX is the preferred, but location is flexible.

The Director of Digital Fundraising is responsible for developing and implementing digital fundraising strategies to build the American Heart Association’s donor base and raise unrestricted revenue. This position leads a team of digital fundraising managers, collaborates with cross-functional teams, directs agency partners, and leverages innovative digital platforms to drive fundraising success. This position incorporates donor lifecycles, acquisition, and retention strategies into the role of the Digital Fundraising Director. This role is vital in building strong relationships with donors and ensuring the success of the fundraising efforts for the direct response team of the American Heart Association and includes an annual fundraising goal of $6M plus.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Partner with the SVP and Director of Direct Mail to develop and implement a comprehensive donor-centric annual digital fundraising strategy including audience lifecycle and channel goals that lead to achieving the revenue goals and growing the donor database.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and direct the team of digital fundraising professionals, providing direction and leadership to deliver performance. The team includes 4-5 direct reports in addition to the digital agency of record representing approximately 15 professionals not all dedicated 100% to the Association.

  • Monthly Campaign Planning and Execution: Partner with the digital agency to plan and ensure execution of monthly digital fundraising omnichannel campaigns, including email marketing, paid and organic search, paid and organic social media, website, and texting. Partner with the DR team to integrate DRTV/CTV and direct mail into overall plans and execution. The campaign plan includes direction and assets for field execution.

  • Donor Acquisition and Retention : Develop strategies to acquire new donors through digital channels and implement retention strategies to cultivate and steward existing donors.

  • Data Analysis and Optimization: Lead the analysis of fundraising data and key performance indicators to measure campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Use insights to optimize fundraising strategies and tactics.

  • Digital Fundraising Platform Management: Oversee the management and optimization of digital fundraising platforms, ensuring they are user-friendly, secure, and aligned with financial data. The platforms include Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Sitecore, DRM, Portfolio /Amergent, FRU, Instapage, Optimizely, Northbeam, SEM Rush, and others.

  • Content and Creative Development: Lead agency on content creation, creative development, campaign messaging, copywriting and editing, visual design, UX and A/B testing.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the digital fundraising budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize revenue results and ROAS.

  • Compliance and Ethics : Work with BT and Legal to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical fundraising and donor privacy standards.

  • Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and innovations in digital fundraising. Seek opportunities for professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of the following experience:

  • Direct marketing experience digital channels including website, email, paid and organic social media, programmatic display, SEO/SEM, Salesforce or other CRM

  • Experience in a non-profit environment

  • Fundraising or revenue-driving experience

  • Digital Marketing Strategy including digital and social media

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills – especially PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills-Storyteller

  • DRTV and CTV experience a plus

Preferred Experience:

  • Google analytics certification or any other digital media certifications from HubSpot, Hootsuite, SEMrush

  • Salesforce marketing cloud or Salesforce CRM experience

  • Prior use of fundraising tools (Optimizely, Instapage, NorthBeam, etc.)
