Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Surgery Scheduler/ Medical Assistant to join our busy office. This full-time position requires working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be responsible for escorting patients, recording patient data, obtaining records, preparing exam rooms, assisting physicians, and performing various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.

  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.

  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.

  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.

  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested, primarily standing and taking notes while the doctor performs duties.

  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.

  • Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician, nurse, or pharmacist.

  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RNs.

  • Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows.

  • Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested by the supervisor or physician.

Essential Skills

  • Certified Medical Assistant

  • Experience with Athena

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (certification not mandatory if experienced)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant qualification

  • Willingness to consider non-certified Medical Assistants with previous experience

Work Environment

The work environment is a busy office with a smaller team that includes front office staff, medical assistants, surgery schedulers, and physicians. The role primarily involves interaction with patients and medical professionals in a smaller office setting.
