JOB SUMMARY

The Officer, Events is responsible for development and implementation of fundraising events and annual fundraising campaigns, focused on creating meaningful and impactful engagement opportunities for donors throughout the year. This position will report to the Manager, Events and Annual Campaigns and will solicit funds for annual fundraising event(s) and develop and implement strategies to achieve goals. Responsibilities include the fundraising and logistics for annual Grand Rounds golf tournament, leadership and implementation on annual employee giving campaign, management of third-party events and special projects as assigned. This person will be responsible for creating an events strategy, working collaboratively with the event logistics team, tracking milestones and fundraising progress, soliciting corporate and individual sponsors for assigned events, maintaining a pipeline of sponsors, donors and volunteer leadership and managing post event donor follow up and pipeline strategy.

This position requires significant teamwork and frequent contact with Foundation leadership, donors, community volunteers, physicians and employees at all levels of the organization. It is a multifaceted role that requires the ability to analyze complex data and develop strong, strategic insights and plans to support effective and measurable Foundation goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Fundraising & logistics

  • Responsible for event fundraising and overall event logistics for annual Grand Rounds golf tournament.

  • Work collaboratively with development team to identify, engage and manage board and/or committee members for assigned events.

  • Responsible for donor engagement and achieving fundraising goals through underwriting, sponsorships for assigned events.

  • Evaluate progress toward financial goals and make strategic revisions to fundraising plans.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure successful execution of assigned event(s), capture event attendee information, activate stewardship plan and identify potential event donors for major gift pipeline.

  • Develop compelling messaging around sponsorship opportunities to ensure effective communication.

  • Support or conduct face-to-face visits, solicitations and other high-level interactions with volunteers, donors and prospects.

  • Assess giving potential, recommend target ask amounts, facilitate donor asks and develop personalized strategies for sponsorships.

  • Draft proposals and/or presentations for individual and/or corporate donor prospects.

  • Drive event stewardship strategy and execution.

  • Provide detailed, timely and accurate data entry of relevant information in RE.

  • Manage event budget, including event expenditures and revenue, with the goal of creating high ROI.

  • Effectively communicate action items, statuses and potential issues/risks appropriately throughout the course of assigned events/project(s).

  • Work with other team members and volunteers as needed to optimize event strategy.

  • Conduct post-event evaluations to measure ROI and gather insights and use feedback to refine future event strategies and improve processes.

Third-party events

  • Responsible for managing all third-party event requests, including event agreements.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with third-party event partners.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for third-party event partners by providing necessary information, support, documentation and stewardship.

  • Collaborate with partners to align event messaging and branding.

  • Track program success, benchmark year-over-year data and lead strategy on retention and acquisition of third-party events.

Employee giving campaign (Give to Change)

  • Drive employee engagement, raise funds and foster a culture of philanthropy among employees.

  • Work closely with Foundations campaign lead, organizational leadership and various clinical departments to ensure campaign success.

  • Manage campaign activities, milestones and deadlines.

  • Execute a comprehensive communication plan to promote the campaign and work with Give to Change team to order and distribute campaign gifts.

  • Organize campaign kickoff and stewardship events and engagement activities to motivate employees to participate.

  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to annual giving team, major gift team and employee donors.

  • Identify, recruit and train employee volunteers to assist with campaign activities.

  • Solicit funds from employee donors in assigned portfolio.

  • Monitor campaign progress and regularly update leadership and team members on fundraising achievements.

  • Coordinate with finance to ensure accurate recording of donations and issue tax receipts when applicable.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Non-profit Studies or other related disciplines from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Must be a proficient project manager and possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in high-level events, managing relationships and soliciting donors for support.

  • Proven ability to implement new initiatives, measure and discern progress and adjust to maximize results.

  • Must be comfortable working within a demanding and complex corporate environment with access to highly confidential and proprietary information.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership for wide-ranging responsibilities.

  • Applies creativity and resourcefulness to projects.

  • Outstanding customer service skills and high expectations for quality.

  • Proactively builds and grows relationships, collaborates with team members and gains alignment.

  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and apply strong attention to detail.

  • Experience working with donor database, Raiser’s Edge a plus.

  • Experience working in Microsoft Office 365 Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint; experience working with Adobe Creative Suite.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification

  • EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 3 years experience required
