General Description

Associate Director of Digital Engineering

TheAssociate Director of Digital Engineeringwill provideengineering leadership and technical oversight for the JCPenney Digital operations and site reliability. This role will be a key player in helping transition JCP Digital Engineering to further a retail turnaround.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a champion and change agent in leading the organizational changes required to create and sustain operational efficiencies and provide exceptional internal customer support.

  • Accountability for delivery of outcomes, measured through leading and lagging indicators. The role will focus on understanding and driving value of investment, establishing leading indicator metrics to validate value hypothesis and pivot strategy if/or as needed.

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the execution plan for implementation of Digital and shared Enterprise capabilities all the while remaining focused on improving cost effectiveness, service levels, quality, and time to market.

  • Demonstrate the ability to seamlessly navigate and partner with stakeholders and leaders to drive common goals and objectives.

  • Present to Executive Leadership and participate in setting up strategic direction in technology and team goals.

  • Manage team members through performance, coaching and feedback, training, and career discussions.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and align team members on project and organization goals and objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional and international teams with different cultural environments

  • Manage a portfolio with complex platforms, products, and processes to instill best practices and deliver high quality work.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • 12 years of experience, with 4+ years in a leadership role.

  • Ability to lead high- performance global operations engineering teams in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.

  • A keen sense of urgency and ability to drive change.

  • Ability to lead a team of highly technical software engineering staff and earn the trust of team members and stakeholders.

  • Experience in career development and talent management.

  • Operational experience with Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript and Node tech stacks

  • Experience working with Akamai's suite of capabilities

  • CI/CD software pipelines and Infrastructure as a code Pipelines

  • Security posture- Cloud Security - Exposure with PCI/PII Audits

  • Cloud Networking - Deep Understanding of cloud networking with Hybrid Cloud, Datacenter and other public clouds

  • Vendor Management experience

  • NO SQL/SQL Database Administration experience

  • Cloud Cost/Budget Management and Reservations

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
