This role is part of the Global Compensation and Mobility Team within the People Division. Responsibilities include assisting in the design, development, and implementation of compensation policies, structures, and practices. Additionally, the role involves engaging with and influencing business leaders to support their strategic talent needs, ensuring the successful accomplishment of American’s mission.

What you'll do

  • Serve as critical resource to all levels of management and other People team members regarding salaries for new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation analysis, and issue resolution

  • Develops and implements annual pay plan reviews for assigned countries

  • Conducts job evaluations, creates/maintains job codes, and writes and edits job descriptions as needed

  • Assist in the design, development, implementation, and administration of international compensation policies, structures, and practices that align with the Company’s strategic objectives and market trends

  • Market prices jobs and performs benchmark analyses to determine Company’s competitiveness in the marketplace

  • Effectively analyzes and uses data to provide critical insights to stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis

  • Develop analyses, recommendation, and implementation of Compensation related activities such as merit planning and administration, salary structure movement, and incentive plan development

  • Examine compensation trends and develop recommendations supporting business initiatives

  • Stay updated on changes in compensation laws and practices across different regions

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, conduct research, cost analysis, formulate conclusions and present conclusions regarding business issues

  • Excellent project management, organizational, and follow-up skills necessary to prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks and effectively meet deadlines

  • Occasional travel required to represent the Company at airline industry conferences or to engage with business leaders, Compensation, and People team counterparts

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training

  • 3-4 years of compensation experience

  • Work experience in an analytical or quantitative role

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in international and executive compensation

  • Experience with market pricing, job evaluations, and conducting salary analyses

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Previous airline industry experience

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and objectivity

  • Ability to apply appropriate judgment and discretion in completing work assignments

  • Expectation to maintain confidentiality of employee compensation data

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and provide excellent customer service

  • Detail-oriented with ability to work in fast-paced environment
