Description

The Office of Clinical Affairs at the Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for one full time 100% FTE, academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position with an 11-month appointment beginning August 26, 2024, or negotiable. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor; rank commensurate on review of qualifications. The departmental home within the College of Dentistry for the successful candidate will be determined based on the applicant's education and experience. Faculty responsibilities will include designing delivering relevant curricular content in support of predoc dental students , dental hygiene students, and where appropriate, graduate students and residents that are in advanced education dental specialty programs. The position will include an administrative appointment as Director of Outpatient Clinics.

This position calls for a person with experience in the clinical practice of dentistry, management of patients with complex medical conditions, dental education, clinic operations, leading teams and personnel supervision, electronic health record management, and clinical compliance.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, the Director of Outpatient Clinics is expected to:

•Collaborate with the administrative clinical team in the Office of Clinical Affairs in establishing dental practice operations and policies that ensure the provision care based upon national standards, privacy, safety, efficiency, and supportive of the patient experience.

• Assist in maintaining accurate dental clinic standards of care, and productivity based on School benchmarks.

•Assist in budget planning, facilitate support for clinical contracts/affiliation agreement, logistical support for student service learning events, facilitate and support third-party payor and dental services financial reporting activities, as requested by the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and/or Assistant Dean for Business & Administration (CFO) or designee.

• Provide recommendations on the purchase of dental equipment, materials, supplies and support appropriate use.

•Plan, coordinate, and review workflows; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, methods, and procedures for the clinics; modify and implement changes where needed.

•Assist and support review of dental practice management functions.

•Implementation and oversight of staff training and calibration.

•Review patient satisfaction surveys and recommend improvements.

•Collaborate with the clinical affairs team to review and resolve dental patient complaints and respond to risk concerns or requests regarding clinical services.

•Demonstrate advanced critical thinking, especially during investigations, process reviews, and risk mitigation.

•Collaborate and support the Director of Clinical Compliance in the development of a clinical quality assurance program.

•Logistical and operations support of the curriculum goals as per the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

•Meet logistical needs to support student educational experiences in external community clinics aligned with onsite clinics, support alignment of curriculum outcomes.

•Collaborate with and support the Director of Clinical Compliance on policies, procedures to ensure clinical compliance and quality of care, and align external clinic operations and expectations with internal clinics.

•Direct and provide oversight of policy, procedure governance, and timely approval processes.

•Actively participate in School, University, and professional organization committees.

•Hire, train, mentor, and guide direct reports on performance and performance improvement initiatives.

•Collaborate in the overall administration and management of staff dentists, and support staff.

•Coordinate regular clinic meetings, including agenda preparation and follow-up.

•Collaborate and coordinate with the Director of Clinical Compliance in the design of in-house continuing professional education, in-service training, and orientation of faculty, staff dentists, and staff to support clinical activities

•Coordinates with respective department heads regarding schedules for external clinics

•Design and deliver relevant curricular content in support of predoctoral dental students, dental hygiene students and where appropriate, residents in advanced education dental specialty programs and graduate students.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have :

• DDS, DMD or equivalent degree

•GPR ( General Practice Residency) or AEGD (Advanced Education General Dentistry) certificate or other extended dental education.

•Minimum of ten years of clinical dental practice experience.

• Must have current f aculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Professor and must have experience in predoctoral dental education involving outpatient clinics or management of offsite clinics (offsite as designated in the clinical education program).

• Candidate must be able to obtain a dental license in the State of Texas .
