Basic Commerce & industries Systems Engineer, Senior (Zumwalt) in Dahlgren, Virginia

Basic Commerce and Industries, Inc. (BCI) is seeking to fill a full-time Senior Systems Engineer in support of the Zumwalt program at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).

Shift: Days 0800 - 1600

Experience Required:

Successful candidates must have a minimum of 15-20 years US Navy surface warfare experience gained while on active duty senior enlisted or officer serving on DDGs, CGs, or land based test sites, etc., or 15-20 years' civil service. Required specialized Combat Systems experience is required in such programs as Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), NIFC-CA, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) or US Coast Guard. Advanced writing and verbal skills a must. Two (2) years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Experience assessing software trouble reports and Specification Change Requests. Experience using Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) database desired. A formal degree supporting systems engineering, software engineering or significant analysis experience is a plus.

Description of Duties:

The individual hired into this position will provide senior systems engineering support for the Zumwalt Class Integrated Combat System, assessing Combat Systems (CS) engineering strategies, reviewing system architectures, conducting requirements engineering and analysis, conducting data analysis, and executing Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE) Element tasking for Zumwalt Combat System. This position will require participating in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), and various Design, Integration, and Test Working Groups as part of the NSWC DD DDG 1000 Navy Technical Team. Applicant will participate in detailed Design Reviews for new capabilities, as well as assessing proposed System/Software changes to existing Combat System capability. Applicant must be able to independently interact with engineers internal and external to NSWCDD, have a demonstrated ability to collect and interpret technical inputs in support of current and emergent Zumwalt Combat System capability objectives, and must perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the BCI team and customers.
