Job Title: Inventory Assistant Supervisor

Department: Distribution

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

Maintains accurate warehouse inventory by slotting, sizing, counting and grouping merchandise, solves warehouse merchandise problems for purchasing department, assists in the set up and maintenance of inventory control system.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Inventory Control Manager

Positions that Report to you: Inventory Control Specialists

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains inventory documentation on WMS computer system regarding damage adjustments, store returns, physical counts, slot dimensions, and prints count sheets.

  • Slots new merchandise, measures cases, maintains accurate pallet configuration, proper descriptions, UPC’s, and sizes of merchandise.

  • Recommends slotting arrangements to increase productivity.

  • Performs cycle and special counts and searches for missing merchandise.

  • Counts problem pallets before shifts begin.

  • Examines products for purchasing specialist looking for expiration dates, and bad codes.

  • Assists receivers with purchase order problems.

  • Maintains liaison with IT regarding inventory.

  • Determines new location and moves merchandise to make room for more products.

  • Handles telephone requests on inventory from stores, purchasing specialists, and other personnel.

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with yearend inventory.

  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.

  • Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.

  • Must possess the ability to file, post and mail materials; copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; interpret written work instructions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school or equivalent experience.

  • Over six months up to 2 years of similar or related work experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports):

  • Assigns work to others

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field vision.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, stooping, kneeling, walking, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in a warehouse environment. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day. There is exposure to dust, noise, and equipment movement hazards on a daily basis.

Telephone, computer, WMS, Tractor, Cushman, copier, tape measure.
