Amazon Accounting Manager, Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, California

Description

Amazon MGM Studios Accounting is looking for a highly motivated and curious accounting and controllership manager to join the exciting world of international tv and film! Come help us support and evolve Amazon's growing media and entertainment businesses where you will drive scalable and dynamic controllership functions including process innovation, automation, technical/GAAP accounting compliance, accounting close and reporting, and stakeholder partnership.

Key job responsibilities

This role requires a self-starter, keen attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced ambiguous environment. This position will have responsibility for:

• Supporting various aspects of our accounting and reporting process.

• End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners.

• Understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area and to design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.

• Execute judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month.

• Escalating risks and issues as necessary to leadership.

• Strong sense of ownership.

• Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization.

• Lead delivery of accounting tasks and projects.

• Enhance partnerships between Accounting and various business and IT groups.

• Research, conclude and memorialize technical accounting position papers.

This position will be expected to understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area and to influence the design of systems, processes and controls for business activities. Technical accounting research and position paper writing will also be a requirement for this position.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA

  • Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency

  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
