Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Category & Channel Development to join our Nestlé Confectionery UK team to lead and develop a team of 20 including Customer Category Leads and Customer Category Managers to effectively influence Customers thinking and actions by unlocking the Category and Channel opportunities identified within the Strategies.

A day in the life of a Head of Category & Development …

Reporting into the Commecial Development Team Director, your role will be to lead and develop the omnichannel category strategy to drive incremental growth for the category & Nestlé UK, by clearly defining "where to play & how to win". An Ambassador of leading the category agenda both internally and externally, you will support flawless execution by identifying opportunities to create a win-win scenario for consumers, shoppers and customers.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Lead the translation of the Zone Category strategy into a UK&I strategy with identified and quantified opportunities and required activities to unlock the drivers.

  • Lead the omni-Channel thinking to enable Channel Managers to write commercial plans that unlock the Category and commercial opportunities.

  • Lead broader business improvement opportunities which impact brand and sales performance at the point of purchase. E.g visual impact and rotation challenges.

  • Coach and develop the CCM team to fully contribute to being a highly effective team internally (bringing the outside inside) and externally within Customers across their own Channel/format footprint

  • Land the I&R to pre agreed levels across the defined channels and Customers to fuel Category growth

  • Deliver effective Customer relationships ahead of the competition

  • Drive distribution, range, space and placement to deliver effective growth at the Point of Purchase

What will make you successful?

An energised and results driven individual, you will have an ability to connect insights and build them into credible commercial strategies that get executed across teams internally and externally. Working as part of an effective multi Channel and Customer focused team, you will understand the needs and nuances between the channels to ensure differentiation supports the execution model of the Customer and shopper.

Other key skills and experience include:

  • Great leadership of diverse teams, collaborative approach and practiced influencer

  • ‘Technical’ depth in a combination of Category development, Sales, Marketing is essential

  • Familiar with Grocery and the Out of Home landscape including contract catering

  • The ability to credibly engage internally and externally at senior levels

  • The ability to work collaboratively through impact and influence across a wide variety of teams, functions and cultures
