Job Description Summary

ROLE IS HYBRID: 3 days per week in office is required

The Sr Engineer, Quality Statistics will be responsible for overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of statistical data to ensure the quality of our products and services. This role will involve working closely with various departments to identify key performance indicators and develop strategies for continuous improvement.

Analyzes and develops solutions to engineering problems related to products or processes. Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures, and provides advice on issues within statistical controls field across multiple sites. Serves as subject matter expert for statistical methods and owns / develops local procedures in accordance with global policy and technical standards. Owns and conducts training across business unit for associates, and participates on BD statistical network.

Responsible for identifying and executing against performance improvement opportunities, supporting successful implementations within business units, building statistical capabilities and uses contemporary performance improvement tools. This includes using Six Sigma methodologies and driving reductions in Cost of Poor Quality.

Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)

  • Develop and implement statistical quality control procedures, in accordance with BD policy and technical standards

  • Use and analyze data from multiple large-scale data warehouses and present statistically strong analysis to a wide range of business stakeholders

  • Designs, coordinates, and implements analytical business and technology solutions, i.e., MS Access databases, R, SQL programs, Python, Power BI to support QM Operations activities. Build basic ad-hoc Power BI reports and dashboards that connect to data sources and provides Quality users with standardize reports and access on defined periodic frequencies

  • Implements statistically based complaint trending methodologies in support of the product platforms

  • Represent the division in the corporate statistics center of excellence

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality.

  • Provide training to internal and external staff regarding analyses, reports, or other relevant topics.

  • Oversee the management the use of quality metric data into Quality Management Review

  • Takes initiative to analyze data from tiered or site level reviews for escalation

  • Develops and fosters working relationships with colleagues globally to drive standardization, collaboration, and support growth across BD.

  • Participates in Quality initiatives as a cross functional contributor.

  • Supports CAPA investigations & audit requests (internal & external)

  • Support audits as a Subject Matter Expert for data analytics relating to Management Review, as required.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor Degree required or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience using analytics / BI packages (e.g., SAS, R, SQL, Cognos, Business Objects, Power BI) to build client analysis solutions.

  • Minimum of 5 years Quality Management System experience in a medical device or pharma or other regulated industry (8-10 years medical device experience is preferred).

Knowledge and Skills:

Required:

  • Experience in data analysis, trending and presenting data in a manner to drive informed decision making.

  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of appropriate global regulations, requirements and standards such as ISO 13485:2016, ISO 9001:2015 and FDA Quality System Regulation

  • Having the global viewpoint to establish and maintain the QMS compiled with global requirements.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite of Products

  • Data Analysis Tools such as MINITAB

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification/experience or ability to achieve Black Belt in 12 months; equivalent programs are acceptable

  • Displays strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership ability across all levels coupled with effective problem solving, conceptual thinking, quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Ability to operate efficiently, proactively and effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Verbal and written communication skills that have ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external customers, such as regulatory bodies

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership, communications and organization skills to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.

  • Travel to other facilities/locations may be required, up to 10%

  • Hybrid work environment, 3 days on site work is required
