The Certified Athletic Trainer/Orthopedic Medical Assistant collaborates with health care disciplines to provide quality direct and indirect care under the supervision and direction of a Sports Medicine Provider or Orthopedic Surgeon.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within

  • Assists in facilitating and implementing all aspects of health care, including but not limited to prevention, practice/event coverage, injury evaluation, medical appointments, treatment, rehabilitation, and team travel, mainly for outreach ATC

  • Assists MD/DO with patient rooming, history, post operative care and education, ordering supplies for the department, splinting, casting, brace fitting (DME), assist with injection with and without imaging, patient calls and portal messages, physician order completion and follow up with patients

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic training or related field

  • Eligible for Oregon State Licensure

  • National Athletic Training Association certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire

  • 2+ years of experience as an athletic trainer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Possess the skills and knowledge needed to assist and care for others. Ability to recognize systems, drug properties and interactions, treatments, and preventative health care measures within the scope of practice

  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients

  • Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas

  • Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time

  • Knowledge of medical records, procedures, and terminology. Ability to read, interpret and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations

  • Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages
