Temporary Maintenance Worker - Refuse/Recycling Collector

Duties: Collects refuse and trash from residences and businesses within the City of Cortez (containers or dumpsters). Checks refuse for materials not accepted by the landfill. Picks up any spilled trash.

Helps Refuse Equipment Operator unload refuse truck at the landfill.

Helps Refuse Equipment Operator service and clean refuse truck.

Assists where needed, cleans yard, paints dumpsters, assists with maintenance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to develop and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers and the general public.

Other Requirements: Must be 18 or older due to child labor laws. Possess a valid CO driver's license. Have a high school diploma or equivalency. Heavy lifting. Heavy manual work for extended periods of time. Exposure to variable weather conditions. May be required to pick up dead animals.

Wage: $15.08-$17.94 per hour

Days and hours: This is a temporary full time position, 40 hours per week. Normal schedule is Monday-Friday but will be required to work weekends and holidays when necessary.
