Public Works Waterline Replacement Foreman

Duties: Manages and supervises the work of the Public Works waterline crew by planning and assigning daily work; assures that work done meets standards and reviews work performed in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water lines. Assists superintendent in hiring and evaluating Public Works personnel.

Instructs crew workers on how to perform field work and trains them in specific construction tasks.

Manages and oversees the valve maintenance, replacement, and exercising program.

Coordinates water projects with other utilities; assists in locating lines; reviews the work of other utilities to ensure that it meets City standards.

Performs daily operations of waterline installation, including operation of heavy equipment, performing connections, sanitizing lines, and keeping logs of equipment maintenance schedules.

Writes progress reports on status of team projects and keeps a daily log of activities, including tracking of employee timesheets and production rates.

Directs crew to provide emergency assistance to other public works crews when staffing of regular public works crews is otherwise insufficient to respond to that emergency. Performs other Public Works related tasks as needed.

Coordinates with other City departments in areas affecting the construction, maintenance, and repair of water lines.

Is available to employees supervised. Advises and mentors team members. Encourages input and regular communication. Provides direction. Assists with tasks whenever necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Must have computer skills excel, word, maintenance software, etc. Ability to understand and carry out both written and oral instructions. Ability to organize and supervise the work of others. Ability to solve problems in the field in real time. Knowledge of waterline replacement, construction, and maintenance. Ability to meet effectively with the public.

Other Requirements: Possess a valid Colorado driver s license: Class CDL/B and a current CDPHE Water Distribution Class 2 Certification. Must be a qualified heavy equipment operator. Knowledge of street maintenance and repair desirable. Knowledge of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. TCS certification preferred. Be in good physical condition. One year prior supervisory experience required, plus three years experience in related Public Works, waterline construction, or other pipeline construction. High School graduate or equivalent.

Wage: $21.57-$34.99

Shift: Full Time, Requires overtime, weekend, and holiday work when necessary.
