Purpose of Position:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Private Label Development Manager to join our team. This key role will be responsible for overseeing the development, launch, and management of private label products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of industry and company trends, consumer behavior, and supply chain management. The Private Label Development Manager will work closely with various departments including merchandising, planning & inventory, distribution, and marketing to ensure the success of our private label product lines. Key responsibilities include conducting business/industry research, identifying new product opportunities, negotiating with suppliers, and managing product lifecycles. The successful candidate will have excellent project management skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze sales and inventory trends to help the creation of strategies to maximize sales, profits, and availability to grow the business and achieve the financial plan

  • With partnership of key cross-functional teams, develop and implement private label product strategies that align with the overarching strategic vision

  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions

  • Manage product lifecycles from concept to launch

  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop promotional strategies

  • Monitor and analyze product performance and make data-driven decisions

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards

  • Manage budgets and financial performance of private label products.

  • Coordinate with Merchandising and P&I to ensure OTB alignment and timely delivery of products

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors

  • Oversee packaging design and branding efforts

  • Conduct competitive analysis to stay ahead of market trends

  • Prepare and present reports on product performance to senior management

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with private label products

  • Continuously seek opportunities for product improvement and innovation.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Retail Merchandise-specific category management experience

  • Exceptional communication skills: an experienced consensus builder with excellent verbal and written communication

  • Experience working directly with factories and manufacturing

  • Strong leadership experience with direct reports and non-direct reports alike

  • Proven track record of analyzing financial results and delivering financial results in response

  • Excellent collaboration and cross-functional team skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

  • Proficiency in a variety of systems including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with budget management and financial analysis

  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for design

  • Knowledge of industry regulations and quality standards

  • Experience with product lifecycle management

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product management or similar role

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position currently does not manage a Team but could evolve future state

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
