Amazon Risk Manager, 1st Line of Defense, Operational Resilience in Cork, Ireland

This role is open to hiring in Cork, Ireland or Luxembourg.

The Selling Partner Trust & Account Compliance (SPT - AC) organization is responsible for making Amazon the safest and most trusted place on Earth by protecting the innocent and deterring the 'ill-intentioned'. Protecting the interests of the end users is our top priority, balancing being compliant and giving a great customer experience. Our team achieves this objective through a combination of automated and manual investigations of the seller transactions on our marketplace. SPT - AC provides/delivers Seller Registrations & Compliance operational processes/services (24x7) to Amazon external Customers as well as different internal Amazon stakeholders.

We are seeking a Risk Manager - Operational Resilience (OR), to provide subject matter expertise support for the global Operational Resilience (OR) program, which is made up of several projects, that will cover all our SPT - AC Operations centres globally. The role will be responsible for outlining the program scope, defining and maintaining the Project Plans across the OR Projects, holding Program reviews and maintaining the Project Risk Registers.

Jointly involved in developing a detailed definition, implementation and execution strategy for the OR program, followed by governance & cadence mechanisms, around the global SPT - AC OR framework. The scope of this role will focus on the programs projects tasks definition, tracking and identifying scope creep as well as overall program status reporting. The Risk Manager will work very closely with other worldwide Amazon functions/teams during the implementation and execution phases of the OR Program.

The successful candidate must also possess a proven record of effective project management capabilities, use of project management software, be innovative and adaptive to the changing requirements of the program. Additionally, they will also be able to operate autonomously, use discretion when dealing with sensitive and critical information, and apply sound business principles and analysis to identify problems and initiate / drive actions to address them.

What we expect from you.

• Manage the overall 1st Line of Defense Operational Resilience programs with the ultimate aim of demonstrating an effective and well-practiced response and recovery capability as measured against key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics.

• Work with key stakeholders to design, develop and implement various Operational Resilience programs including Business Continuity Management, Incident Management, Crisis Management etc.

• Oversee the design and implementation of the SPT - AC Incident Management Team (IMT) and Crisis Management Team (CMT) including team structure, role assignments and competency requirements.

• Oversee the implementation and validation of effective business recovery strategies for all WW SPT - AC functions and sites to ultimately ensure recovery of services to agreed availability levels during disruption events that will meet business and customer expectations.

• Oversee the development and implementation of the various Operational Resilience methodologies such as Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Response and Recovery Plans, Response and Recovery Capability Assessments, etc.

• Design and implement the schedule for training and exercises to ensure all Operational Resilience related roles have sufficient competency levels and practice in responding to simulated realistic disruption events of increasing severity and complexity.

• Work with all relevant stakeholders to develop new and innovative Operational Resilience initiatives or processes. Conduct safe-to-fail experiments to trial and test these initiatives to ultimately help improve the effectiveness of the ability to respond and recover from disruption events.

• Ensure lessons learned from drills, exercises and real disruption events are properly collected and engineered back into the various programs with the necessary improvements / corrective actions.

• Manage all documentation relating to Operational Resilience and ensure they are regularly updated and socialized with the relevant stakeholders.

• Support any Operational Resilience inspections, assessments and audits, in addition to reviewing and managing the implementation of agreed actions.

• Work with the relevant technology teams to evaluate, design and implement any relevant technology/automated solutions for Operational Resilience.

• Manage and support all SPT - AC sites and functions across the world to ensure the appropriate Response and Recovery plans and processes are implemented and validated.

• Work with and support other parts of the ORR team to ensure a unified state of readiness and response capability to any disruption.

• Play a key role as a facilitator of the relevant IMT and/or CMT in the event of their activation.

• Monitor, measure, analyze, and evaluate the overall ongoing health and performance of the Operational Resilience programs to drive improvements and escalate to management where necessary any actions needed to improve compliance and / or achieve related objectives.

• Ensure the Operational Resilience processes and activities meet all regulatory requirements for all sites and jurisdictions that SPT - AC operate within.

• Perform other similar or related duties as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent

  • Experience handling confidential information

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience in Operational Resilience related disciplines (Business Continuity, Incident/Crisis Management, etc.). Good experience of program or project management Working knowledge and experience in implementing programs to ISO:22301 standard or similar. Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements. Possess excellent communication skills and should be able to coordinate with multiple stakeholders not limiting to business operations, regulatory, legal, health and safety etc. Relevant experience in implementing and managing Operational Resilience programs, including policy documentation, tool implementation and business impact assessments. Relevant experience in managing the response and recovery to significant disruptive events. Track record of creative problem solving, and the desire to create and build new processes Strong time management and multitasking skills as well as attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to associates and management across diverse sites. Excellent grasp of MS Office Suite and programs to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, InfoPath, SharePoint, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), Business Continuity Institute (BCI), or other business continuity professional certification Familiarity with IT Disaster Recovery Proven track record of sound decision making, taking ownership, and delivering results in a leadership role. Track record of having earned the trust of leadership by challenging norms, upgrading team performance, enabling growth, and improving efficiency. Ability to dive deep into data, existing processes, people, and technology challenges in order to identify risks and opportunities. Strong interpersonal skills, including the written and oral communication skills necessary to build relationships and positively influence decision making. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple complex projects. Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity & across large, complex and global corporate network, partnering & delivering effectively with other teams globally
