Amazon Senior Program Manager, Global Finance Transformation in Cork, ColoradoIreland

Description

We are looking for a team member who is interested in driving efficiency and can collaborate in our fast-paced global organization. The successful candidate will have proven experience delivering process improvement and automation projects on behalf of Accounting functional stakeholders.

This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.

Key job responsibilities

• Interact with Project Sponsors, Project Stakeholders and multiple accounting and technical teams to define and deliver solutions to complex challenges

• Drive multiple projects to completion across many organizations and teams

• Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints

• Facilitate process improvement workshops with stakeholder teams

• Plan and manage multiple parallel projects. Maximize resources for the greater good of the organization

• Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels

• Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders

• Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities

• Be the glue that is able to understand, plan, and manage the cross-team inter-dependencies

• Communicate project issues and status in a concise, accurate, and professional manner

• Build and maintain integrated project schedules that account for internal/external dependencies, numerous constraints and consideration of risk while still showing bias for action

• Remain flexible to changing priorities, open to new ideas and have Amazon's success firmly in your focus

• Potential international travel up to 10%

A day in the life

This role will work with project SME’s, multiple IT teams and Accounting and Compliance stakeholders. The PM will need to energize and harmonize contributors to facilitate a ‘One Team’ working environment. Delivered via Agile methodology, the PM will be required to lead multiple global projects in parallel, agree prioritization/ backlogs with the Global Finance Transformation lead, plan scope and capacity, and then manage the execution and report through to delivery. The emphasis is to invent and simplify to deliver flexible, scalable solutions that meet our customer needs.

About the team

We are a Global Finance Transformation Program working across the Amazon Accounting team. Our goal is to improve our accounting colleagues experience while accelerating financial close, driving compliance and increasing efficiency. This is to be achieved through process improvement projects leveraging standardization and automation of cross-team accounting processes and policies.

Basic Qualifications

• Project management qualification (e.g. PMP, IMPA) or equivalent experience

• Significant experience delivering cross functional projects

• Significant experience in program or project management

• Significant experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams (software development and application infrastructure) with aggressive schedules

• Experience in managing multiple vendors and SME’s with no direct reporting line

• Experience with project delivery for large, global, cross functional projects including presenting to leadership teams

• Experience defining project requirements and using data and metrics to demonstrate improvements

• Experience within complex organizational settings (e.g., PMO, geographic dispersion, etc.)

• Familiarity and previous experience with process improvement (CI, Lean Six Sigma) and agile methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Process Improvement/ CI / Lean/ Six Sigma qualification

• Experience working in Accounting organization

• Comfortable holding a project team accountable and driving them towards governance and reporting best practices.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable being the ‘front’ person, leading with behavior/ culture

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent listening skills, concise communications and targeting the message to specific audiences

• Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices and identify what truly matters
