This position is for a Software Engineer with a company at Stennis Air Force Base.

The Software Engineer will advance the capabilities of meteorology and oceanography (METOC) communities by providing software design, development, and maintenance, typically involving geospatial elements. The position includes full lifecycle software support for web applications, user interfaces, geo-processing tools, GIS map services, REST interfaces, database manipulation applications/interfaces, and workflow management tools. This on-site position is located at NASA's Stennis Space Center, supporting the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO).

Education and Experience: Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Geographic Information Sciences, or another relevant technical field. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Required Experience: Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Python or Java. Minimum 3 years of experience in software development or a related field. Desired Qualifications: Experience with: Programming languages such as Python or Java. Linux-based operating systems and shell scripting. Web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Database management systems and query languages such as PostgreSQL. Data formats such as XML and JSON. Developing and performing test plans, test cases, and code reviews. Application hardening and security. Self-motivated yet able to collaborate with a development team. Strong oral and written communication skills. STIG documentation experience. Current active Secret clearance.
