A PTA is responsible for implementation of treatment plans designed by the physical therapist and supervision of technicians.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Associate degree from an accredited PTA program. Must be licensed in or eligible for licensure by the Kentucky state board of physical therapy.JOB RELATIONSHIPS: The PTA is responsible for the supervision, motivation, and performance of technicians. The PTA reports to staff therapist and clinic director.JOB KNOWLEDGE: The PTA must display expertise in the practices, principles and responsibilities of the adherence to the code of ethics of the APTA, Kentucky State Physical Therapy Practice Act, and state licensure regulations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:•Implement treatment programs designed by physical therapists, write/dictate progress notes, and instruction of home exercise programs.•Practice within APTA code of ethics and Physical Therapy Practice Act of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.•Communicate appropriately with patient, physicians, physical therapist, and other appropriate personnel regarding treatment, contraindications, progress, and other areas as needed. Coordinate PT services with other disciplines as needed.•Provide appropriate treatment techniques as assigned by physical therapist and the scope of practice. •Knowledge and ability to communicate knowledge of mechanics, set-ups, precautions, and contraindications for all equipment used in treatment.•Ability to promote physical therapy services to internal and external customers.•Exhibit willingness and ability to learn and share pertinent information.•Provide training for staff as requested.•Interact with, supervise, and instruct PTA students and volunteers as needed.•Remain current in physical therapy knowledge through continuing education.•Perform other duties as assigned.•Delegate appropriate treatment procedures to support staff; provide adequate supervision.•Flexible and accommodating with appointment availability.•Assist with routine maintenance of the clinic.•Maintain an on-time appointment schedule.•Oversee pool therapy when needed.•Assist with wellness program.•Monitor equipment for safety; report malfunctioning equipment through appropriate channels for prompt repair.
