Description

Summary:

The Project Accountant is responsible for managing all financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Budgeting: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with project plans and objectives.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present regular financial reports, including variance analysis, to project managers and stakeholders.

  • Cost Tracking: Monitor and track project costs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with approved budgets.

  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards and project contracts.

  • Invoicing: Prepare and process project-related invoices, ensuring timely billing and collection of payments.

  • Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliation of project accounts, including reviewing and resolving discrepancies.

  • Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections for projects.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements related to project accounting.

  • Audit Support: Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits related to project finances.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in project accounting.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on project accounting or related areas.

  • Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and project accounting best practices.
