The Clinical Data Analyst is accountable to use their knowledge of data processing software and business development strategies to provide sound business recommendations to company leaders. This position is responsible for accurately collaborating with other data professionals to extract data figures, create reports based on findings and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to determine business initiatives’ success. With strong communication and organizational skills, the claims data analyst assists leadership and team in achieving goals, objectives and improvements.
Responsibilities:
Successfully and professionally work as part of a team to collect and analyze data, process information, monitor key metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
Create professional reports for internal customers using graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data
Structure large data sets to find usable information
Maintain and manage various databases
Reconcile data using multiple data sets
Discover discrepancies and patterns in available healthcare data
Report and present clinical observations and insights from the analysis of data from healthcare claims
Be responsible for standard and ad-hoc extracts/reports across multiple primary and secondary data sources and submission to regulatory agencies as required
Be responsible for tracking on-going outcomes reports and managing priorities for upcoming reports
Effectively multitask using a various number of systems, sources of data and analytical tools
Thoroughly understand plans, benefits and the complete healthcare system
Consistently meet or exceed required turnaround times
Work independently to research and determine
Ensure any data exchanges are HIPAA compliant
Perform miscellaneous projects as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in any MIS, IT Engineering, Business, Health Informatics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Mathematics, or in a related field
At least one year of experience as a healthcare data analyst and experience at a pharmaceutical or biotechnological company, or with a consulting firm
Experience in quantitative analysis with a demonstrated focus in statistics and analytics
Experience with coding languages (e.g. R, Python, SAS, SQL) to query and extract data preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to clearly articulate ideas and concepts including technical terminology
Understanding of data within the medical field, including medical and pharmacy claims
Positive attitude with openness to other’s ideas
Sound judgement to apply discretion in discussing confidential information
Strong Interpersonal skills promoting teamwork and collaborative alliances
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills in order to explain and draw logical conclusions based on complex data from multiple content areas
Excellent organizational skills in the ability to prioritize tasks, and work effectively on multiple assignments
Problem solving skills with a keen eye for details to carefully assess and accommodate detailed project requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
Excellent Microsoft Office Skills including Microsoft Excel (+formula writing) and Access, experience in relational database design, extract and reporting, report writers and presentation software
Ability to explain and present data to multiple audiences
