Job Description

As Collections and Distribution System Manager/Assistant Project Manager with ESG Operations, an Inframark Company, you will be able to use your skills and knowledge to make a difference in your company and community.

ESG Operations is currently seeking a Collections and Distribution Systems Manager/Assistant Project Manager in Rockdale County (Conyers), GA. In this position, you will oversee operations of the wastewater collection system, including staff supervision, training, planning, equipment, budget, regulation compliance, public relations, and reporting. We are looking for candidates with experience managing multiple collections crews and a proven record of success with collection system compliance.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Define the functions and objectives of treatment plant

  • Inspect program and project to ensure that the activities are being expeditiously and effectively accomplished and are properly utilizing personnel, equipment and materials

  • Develop new plans, programs and operations to attain higher quality levels of service and/or cost saving over present conditions

  • Plan major capital improvement needs and corresponding revenue sources to meet expected long-range growth

  • Prepare annual budget and monitors financial revenue and expense reports to monthly budgeted variances

  • Stay abreast of technical and operational changes in the wastewater treatment industry

  • Attend meetings with other City/County department leaders, Water and Sewer Authority, State and Regional officials and the general public to justify, defend, negotiate or settle matters involving significant or controversial issues with individuals or groups

  • General plant administrative responsibilities to include:

  • Direction and coordination of subordinate supervisory staff

  • Assigning and scheduling work

  • Reviewing work for accuracy and clarity

  • Training, instructing, coaching and mentoring personnel in work methods

  • Performing routine performance evaluations

  • Using knowledge to offer recommendations for improved work performance to include performance improvement plan, disciplinary plans, etc.

  • Working with internal resources to understand and resolve complaints and concerns

  • Assisting in the process of interviewing candidates for vacant positions

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Engineering, Science, Business or Public Administration and eight years of progressively responsible experience in Collections and Distribution. Any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid Georgia commercial drivers’ license and meet the Company’s minimum driving standards. Active Georgia Collections and/or Distribution license, or ability to obtain through receprocity, is required.

Knowledge of:

  • Supervising, mentoring and coaching of employees

  • Application of knowledge of all basic principles of hydraulics and the biological, chemical and physical principles of polluted influent to plants

  • Equipment, material and operation practices involved in the collection of wastewater

  • Safety practices, procedures and equipment used

Skill in:

  • Supervising and training subordinate staff

  • Operating standard business office equipment

  • Oral and written communication

Ability to:

  • Plan, organize, supervise and inspect the work of the subordinate personnel

  • Determine long-range needs for expansion and reconstruction

  • Plan and organize work for the efficient accomplishment of defined objectives

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.

Physical requirements

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force regularly.

The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.

The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
