Job Summary:

An Inspector shall prepare, perform, and record results of inspections and tests to determine if the characteristics of parts meet documented requirements. Accepts or rejects parts and prepares related records as permanent record for traceability. The 2nd shift hours: Monday - Thursday, 4:30 PM - 2:30 AM.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Inspectors shall be qualified to perform the following duties with only periodic supervision oversight or review:

  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.

  • Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required. Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.

  • Accurately documents the results of the inspections and testing.

  • Assists in the writing and updating of inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.

  • Requires ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.

Equipment/Process Responsibilities: Ensures work area, property, tools, machines, equipment, measuring instruments, or chemical reagents used to perform inspections and tests are properly cleaned and maintained daily. Sets up and adjusts equipment and instruments for tests performed.

Work with Others: Accurate and thorough communication is mandatory to the success of Monogram, and inspection personnel must use good written and verbal communicate to ensure team members, including in other departments, are notified of any problems or concerns regarding quality of work received or time flow of work in progress as it affects production schedules. Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of operations in the department. Able to train other employees in inspection methods, operations and procedures of activities they are qualified to perform, as required.

Safety Responsibilities:Adherence to Company safety rules is required. Protective equipment and clothing shall be worn as appropriate to the task at hand and per the dress code policy and safety rules.

Initiative and Ingenuity: Requires initiative in solving problems associated with the set-up and testing of laboratory equipment and some ingenuity in adapting equipment, instruments, etc. to complete tests. Makes suggestions for improving the efficiency of workflow or equipment operation. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks are completed. Performs other work-related tasks as deemed necessary by Company needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Surroundings: Work is in a machine shop laboratory environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, the repetitive nature of the job, etc. are less desirable than in a typical office environment.

Unavoidable Hazards: Possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, finger and hand injuries, bums, chemical reactions and muscle strains. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, metalworking fluids, chemicals, heating elements and airborne particles. Protective equipment and clothing appropriate to the task at hand is required.

EFFORT

  • Physical: Able to lift up to 25 pounds. Required to adjust requisite equipment to set-up specifications. Hand and finger manipulation in turning tools/valves/handles or operating knobs/cranks/buttons etc. as well as using precision measuring instruments. Able to reach, bend and stretch. Most job assignments require continuous standing and/or sitting for periods exceeding 15 minutes at a time.

  • Mental: Work at times is highly repetitive and monotonous. However, set-ups may require basic knowledge of machine shop theory and familiarity with laboratory test procedures. Set-ups or test parameters may require some improvisation and ingenuity. Reasoning ability required to interpret blueprints and documentation of a technical nature. Must be able to draw valid conclusions from a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Required to organize workflow to best efficiency under periodic supervision or review.

  • Visual: Close attention to detail with moderate eye concentration for extended periods of time. Able to read precision instruments and gauges. Requires close and distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, focus adjustment and depth perception.
