Rush Enterprises Welder in Columbus, Ohio

The Experienced Welder will be responsible for production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building and fitter welding in a high paced production environment. This role will work with supervisors to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and TIG welding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits

  • Conduct technical inspections

  • Fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures

  • Perform maintenance on returned products to be refurbished or re-worked to customer specifications

  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation

  • Operate manual or semi automatic flame cutting equipment

  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment

  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

  • Repair machinery and other components

  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

  • Conduct project review and planning

  • Fuel tank and card lock repairs

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • College or post secondary education is preferred

  • AWS D1.1 SMAW Certification required

  • Previous experience in Heavy Truck, Automotive or related industry experience preferred

Other Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ensure compliance of all OHSA regulations, as well as Rush's Heath and Safety

  • Assist in development or repair estimates

  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques

  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focused

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment

  • Experience with routine maintenance operations

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

  • Strong attention to detail
