Amergis Registered Nurse Neuro ICU in Columbus, Ohio
The RN - Neuro ICU assumes responsibility and accountabilityfor the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care inthe neuro critical care setting. The Neuro ICU RN consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andrecognizing change in patient’s conditions. The Neuro ICU RN must be alert and prepared at all times to respond toemergent situations and they must also be able to remain calm and professionalin times of crisis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care
Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
Monitors patients for signs of brain death and herniation
Understands and is able to assess reflexive movement
Appropriately performs medication administration
Able to initiate and manage multiple IV lines, drains,tubing, catheters, and equipment used in patient monitoring
Provides palliative and end-of-life care when necessary
Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes andthe time frames for expected completion to members of health care team, patent,and patient families
Functions as a resource to the health care team members inplanning for patient’s discharge
Documents the patient’s plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventions
Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment
Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education
Adheres to facility/client policies, procedures andprotocols at all times
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which thenurse practices
One year of critical care experience is preferred
Current BLS card; current ACLS/PALS card (per facilityrequirement)
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
