Pharmacy Assistant - Inpatient Pharmacy Requisition ID 2024-48800 Category Allied Health Overview Pharmacy Assistant - Inpatient Pharmacy The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of medications and supplies to medication rooms, medication drawers and pharmacies, enabling prescribers, healthcare practitioners, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians, to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures patient and customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) and regulatory agencies. When appropriate, train new pharmacy assistants. Employees should be detail-oriented, patient-centered, and demonstrate strong moral character and evidence of alignment with Nationwide Children's Hospital's core values. Schedule: (Full Time, Benefits Eligible) Location: Central Campus 700 Children's Dr Columbus, Ohio 43205 Responsibilities Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of and compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards and other regulatory requirements specifically related to the handling of medications (continuously) Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of medications to their destination including delivery of requested items (continuously) Delivers stock to pharmacy work areas and pharmacy satellites with medications and supplies as needed (continuously) Performing drug inventories or inventory rotation (frequently) Sorting and unpacking of non-controlled medications for stocking (continuously) Sorting and stocking medications that are returned to stock (continuously) Follows all isolation and radiation precaution signs (occasionally) Utilizes proper body mechanics when lifting and transferring medications (continuously) Demonstrates customer friendly phone skills and directs customer concerns to proper team members when necessary (frequently) Perform housekeeping tasks to keep a clean and orderly pharmacy including all daily, weekly, and monthly documentation of completed tasks in designated record keeping systems (frequently) Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: Six months of previous pharmacy and/or customer service experience preferred MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Viewing/Listening Constantly 67-100% Talking Constantly 67-100% Walking Constantly 67-100% Standing Constantly 67-100% Bending Constantly 67-100% Stooping Constantly 67-100% Lifting (up to 50 lbs) Constantly 67-100% Pushing/pulling Constantly 67-100% Carrying Constantly 67-100% Reaching Constantly 67-100% General hospital environment with the potential for exposure related to transporting hazardous medications Must be able to independently lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, speak, read, write and perform manual tasks without accommodation and care for oneself with little or no difficulty. Must be able to push medication carts and/or equipment independently over carpets, tile and in and out of elevators.
