Robert Half Paralegal Writer in Columbus, Ohio

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized paralegal to join our client with growing family law practice. In this role, you will work closely with attorneys to support clients facing various family law matters, including:

  • Divorce: Assisting with case preparation, pleadings, discovery, child support calculations, and property division.

  • Child Custody & Visitation: Gathering information, drafting agreements, and preparing for court hearings.

  • Child Support: Calculating child support obligations and enforcing existing orders.

  • Paternity: Establishing paternity and negotiating child support agreements.

  • Domestic Violence: Drafting restraining orders and assisting clients with legal protections.

  • Adoptions: Preparing adoption petitions, gathering documentation, and liaising with adoption agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries.

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.

  • Manage client intake, schedule appointments, and prepare correspondence.

  • Organize and maintain case files electronically and physically.

  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including witness interviews and evidence gathering.

  • Calculate child support and alimony payments using specialized software.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, both verbally and in writing, while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor in all interactions.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in family law (a plus).

  • Strong understanding of family law principles and procedures.

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize workload.

  • Highly organized with a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to working with clients experiencing emotional situations.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
