Job Title: Manufacturing Project Engineer

Job Description

Actalent is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Project Engineer for a partner in the pharmaceutical industry. This company is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in Columbus, Ohio, and is a trusted source of over 750 high-quality generic, specialty, and branded pharmaceutical products. These products are essential for hospitals, physicians, and pharmacists across North America, the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate equipment to increase capacity and upgrade technology; qualify capital manufacturing equipment and make a case for purchase.

  • Analyze equipment capabilities and specify, set up equipment for new product launches; ensure equipment is operational after purchase.

  • Monitor processes and calculate data for production equipment to implement continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Manage projects from qualification to purchase, implementation, and optimization.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for the purchased equipment within the plant.

  • Interact with multiple stakeholders, including process engineers, technology managers, and capital engineers.

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial Engineering

  • Experience buying/qualifying capital equipment (manufacturing lines/equipment)

  • Manufacturing background within the pharmaceutical industry (Oral Solid Dose experience strongly preferred)

  • Project management experience overseeing projects from qualification to purchase to implementation

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Effective communication with multiple stakeholders

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to manage full project lifecycle

Work Environment

Clean, state-of-the-art facility with a mix of office space, labs, and manufacturing areas. Flexibility around hours, with a minimum of 40 hours expected. Core hours are 9am-3pm, with flexibility around start and end times as long as core hours are covered.
