HVAC Technician - 7a-330p

The HVAC Technician performs installation, operation, preventive maintenance, servicing and repair on refrigeration equipment, heat pumps, pneumatics, environmental control systems, boilers and related equipment. Responsible to maintain HVAC systems at on and off-site locations within federal, state, and local guidelines, and inform supervisors of non-compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and determines the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls on heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems at on and off-site locations.

  • Installs, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and overhauls heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and replaces parts as necessary, checks and tests for proper operation, sets and adjusts the equipment and returns the system to operation after repair at on and off-site locations.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)· Education : High school graduate or equivalent, vocational training preferred. Graduate of an approved technical or trade school preferred. Major concentration: courses in heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration theory.

  • · Licensure / Certification : Universal Refrigeration Certification.

  • · Experience : Three (3) years experience in the installation and repair of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment preferred.· Effective Communication Skills· Knowledge of chemical water treatment, tests and analysis.· Knowledge of electrical controls and electric theory relating to HVAC systems.· Knowledge of temperature controls systems..· Knowledge of indoor air quality standards.· Experienced in blueprint reading and knowledge of state and local codes.· Responsible for assuring heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment are maintained at on and off-site locations.· Assists in the training of new associates.· Must have a valid Ohio drivers license.

For example: demonstrates friendliness and courtesy, effective communication creates a professional environment and provides first class service.· Meets population specific and all other competencies according to department requirements.· Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence or adverse outcome to associates and patients.· Relationship-based Care: Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at Mount Carmel following the principles of our interdisciplinary care delivery system.· (For patient care providers) Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.· Inspects and determines the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls on heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems at on and off-site locations.· Installs, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and overhauls heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and replaces parts as necessary, checks and tests for proper operation, sets and adjusts the equipment and returns the system to operation after repair at on and off-site locations.· Reads blueprints, installs equipment in accordance with blueprints and specifications, up-dates and corrects blueprints to reflect as-built conditions.· Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems at on and off-site locations.· Operates and adjusts HVAC systems to heat and cool air to specified temperatures and humidities.· Inspects, installs, adjusts and maintains hospital equipment systems to include, but not limited to chillers, cooling towers, and air handlers.· Perform tests and chemically treats the boiler water in closed loop systems and cooling tower water at on and off-site locations· Performs snow removal duties including the maintenance and operation of 4-wheel drive vehicles, plows, salt spreaders, tractors, blowers, and applies salt and de-icers. Other Job Responsibilities· Must have the working knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment, snow removal equipment, testing equipment, medical gases, and use of protective coatings.· Performs any manual tasks required in the performance of the job assignment· Attends all inservice training required by the job position and meets the facility annual mandatory guidelines for training..· Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.· All other duties as assigned.
