JPMorgan Chase Financial Planning and Analysis - Associate in Columbus, Ohio

As a Financial Planning and Analysis - Associate in the Data Technology team, you will partner with the Data Technology & Product organization within Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) to provide support with financial control, forecasting and budgeting, analysis of financial/business metrics, delivery of weekly/monthly/quarterly management reporting, and providing insightful data driven analysis for the Head of Tech & Product on how to increase profitability and efficiencies. You will analyze, prepare, and reconcile accounting and technical data as well as prepare reports, while always thinking of and devising ways to streamline and minimize cycle times through automated applications and process improvement. You will also help develop recommendations effecting business procedures and operations and maintain financial and reporting systems, and you will assist the department and other team members with special projects or components of other projects as needed.

For this role, candidates must be able to physically work in our Columbus, OH offices 3 days a week and remotely from home 2 days per week. The specific schedule will be determined and communicated by direct management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide insightful & detailed monthly financial variance commentary to Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and to the Technology business partners on a monthly basis by analyzing and reconciling monthly actuals against budget & forecast scenarios

  • Maintain detailed financial files containing supporting data utilized for budget & outlook loads such as headcount information and vendor information by product and cost assignment

  • Partner with various stakeholders to drive annual budget and monthly forecasting activities

  • Provide a high level of responsiveness to executive ad-hoc requests related to project management, presentation development, and business analysis

  • Organize complex information in a strategic and compelling way, demonstrating strong design acumen and expertise in Excel and PowerPoint techniques.

  • Communicate effectively with key business partners to understand projects and guide next steps

  • Participate in collaborative initiatives with team members and global managers, looking for ways to continually simplify, improve, and add value to existing business processes

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a subject of a technical nature

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency with data mining/gathering and manipulation of data sets

  • Inquisitive, enthusiastic and diligent, and capable of challenging peers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly

  • Ability to create ad hoc reporting for senior management

  • Proven track record for executing on special projects / assignments, often with little lead time or information

  • Team player with the ability to be respected as a trusted partner for the Business, Finance, and Financial Planning & Analysis Teams

  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent time management/prioritization skills and ability to thrive and think clearly under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to analyze large data sets and present conclusions concisely

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Relevant experience in Financial Services, and/or accounting/controller background

  • Experience in Essbase/Smartview

  • Experience with SAP
