THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Director, Restaurant Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA), you will lead the Restaurant Food Safety team and be responsible for the strategy and all food safety programs that impact our restaurants across the globe. This position will develop effective strategies into organizational plans and guide execution and compliance monitoring to ensure the business goals are met and values upheld.This role will engage and support key partnerships, internal and external, including, but not limited to: Operations Leadership (domestic and international), FSQA, Supply Chain, Restaurant Excellence, Field Training, Operations Services, Facilities, Development, People Experience and Legal. The role will develop and support best practices in food safety, consistent with the overarching Chipotle World Class Food Safety Strategy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and oversee restaurant food safety KPIs and risk mitigation strategies by capturing, managing, utilizing, and presenting data in a meaningful way to drive improvements in process, procedures, and execution.

  • Provide oversight and strategic direction for all restaurant health/food safety programs.

  • Lead oversight and partnership to ensure foodborne illness risks are appropriately mitigated consistent with our business objectives and values.

  • Oversee and manage third-party food safety audit program and health department intelligence (HDI) to ensure it delivers business objectives and insights, provides consistent coaching and feedback to our operations teams, and that corrective actions are implemented as necessary.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and strategic business partner for international stakeholders to drive consistency of programs globally.

  • Responsible for the development and execution of the Restaurant Food Safety Crisis Management plan, escalation protocols, and regulatory correspondence for potential foodborne outbreaks associated with all restaurants globally.

  • Oversee corporate pest function while designing and implementing a strategic and effective pest control program, consistent with industry best practices. Aggregate, track, and monitor pest related data to provide insights to the business and adjust business processes to mitigate potential risk to Chipotle.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to review and develop food safety procedures, programs, and training materials using the FDA Food Code and other regulatory requirements as a basis for compliance.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year college or university required.

  • Advanced degree in Food Science or related field preferred.

  • 8+ years' Foodservice (restaurant industry) experience preferred.

  • 8+ years' supervisory experience preferred.

  • Possess manger level ServSafe and HACCP Certifications.

  • Training, certification and experience and strong knowledge of FDA Food Code, FSMSs, CP-FS and/or REHS/RS

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions based on the data and develop and implement an action plan based on the conclusions.

  • Proven ability to influence others, be credible & act with integrity, demonstrate objective thinking, healthy skepticism, and the ability to challenge conventional methods.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks while working remotely with cross-functional leaders.

  • Able to travel domestic and internationally up to 30% of the time.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $149,000-215,000. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
