We are currently hiring for a Development Consultant in our Midwest Region . The Consultant is accountable for affiliate-wide consulting to Heart Challenge, Go Red For Women & Heart Ball event fundraising strategies in mid-size to small markets. Serves as liaison in onboarding and supplemental training on Heart Challenge, Go Red For Women and Heart Ball campaigns, including all arms of the campaigns. In conjunction with VP’s of Consulting and Sr. Leadership team, assist in tracking, reporting and monitoring campaign revenue, and assist in developing strategies and identifying and responding to training needs around closing affiliate campaign gaps.

This is a full-time position that is home-based and can be based anywhere in the Midwest Region.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for field campaign income derived from Heart Challenge, Go Red For Women and Heart Ball.

  • Provide campaign support and field development for all field campaign events: Heart Challenge, Heart Ball, and Go Red For Women.

  • Create and develop key trainings for product leads across the region

  • Work alongside VP of Development to scale and deliver new concepts and initiatives

  • On-board new staff members to ensure they are receiving best practice information and tools

  • Train staff on best practices

  • Set up weekly communication updates to include key revenue priorities

  • Identify knowledge gaps in field

  • Conduct group trainings around key areas of focus

  • Work alongside national team to ensure new concepts are reaching markets

  • Work with HR on Building Powerful Partnerships

  • Solicit and recruit speakers both internal and external for key meetings

  • Execute in-person trainings that are identified based on strategic revenue priorities

  • Create a case study library and disseminate to the field

  • Provide leadership around guest experience to ensure that all campaigns across the Midwest Region have the same level of experience whether they are in a large or small market

  • Conduct trainings across the region on best in class experiences, event execution, timelines, budgets and protocols

  • Directly facilitate logistics planning gap meetings along with main consultant in major markets

  • Conduct group logistics meetings with FANS, mids to small markets

  • Work with the technical support team to hold calls with social campaigns as appropriate to ensure understanding of logistics and day/night of event software.

  • Provide affiliate wide consultation for mid/small markets for Heart Challenge, Go Red For Women and Heart Ball

  • Conduct gap meetings per year in priority markets (priority markets will be determined by the VP’s of Consulting.

  • Lead group consulting meetings per year in markets based on similar size markets and campaign timeline (group consulting markets will be determined by the VP’s of Consulting).

  • Conduct post event evaluations in priority markets for priority market social events to maximize best practice implementation and spur growth in next year’s campaign.

  • Establish regularly scheduled communications with Heart Challenge, Go Red For Women and, Heart Ball staff, and other staff as appropriate, that focus on best practices and key strategies

  • Collaborate with development management staff on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity.

  • Knowledge of community organization, sales, fundraising, and marketing principles, practices, techniques, and trends.

  • Minimum of 2 years volunteer and/or staff management preferred.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training. Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations and similar narrative pieces.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and analyze financial data. Skill in using spreadsheets and databases.

  • Strong ability to motivate/inspire others to accomplish goals.

  • Ability to delegate and accomplish goals through others.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers and the public.

  • Experience organizing and prioritizing multiple projects.

  • Basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2010 or higher used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
