Citizens Data Scientist, Mortgage Sales & Strategy Analytics in Columbus, Ohio

Citizens’ Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) organization is seeking a Data Scientist to provide analytics and programming support for Mortgage sales and strategy with a focus on proactively retaining existing customers and acquiring new customers via application of data/programming/models/analytics to support sales outreach and optimization. Initial focus is on driving growth through the Enterprise Smart Leads operation that centralizes sales lead generation with a coordinated approach to customer outreach. The Mortgage Sales & Strategy Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and maintaining programs to generate data-driven sales leads provided to virtual and retail Mortgage Loan Officers to enable proactive customer outreach, while also supporting the ongoing analysis of results and optimization to continually improve performance. Skills required include a range of analytical functions (computer and statistical programming, data management, data exploration/visualization, feature engineering, statistical analysis) and business functions (analyzing/presenting results, process improvement, quality control, and communication).

The optimal candidate will possess strong programming, analytical, and communication skills and demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment and interact well with business stakeholders. Knowledge of the home lending space is a plus. As the Data Scientist, you will work at the direction of Senior/Principal Data Scientists and Data Science Managers to develop expertise on all Mortgage sales-related data; develop, execute, and maintain programs to generate customized, data-driven Mortgage-focused leads; and develop/implement/present analyses aimed at analyzing results and optimizing performance. Smart Leads operates as an Agile team within the Enterprise Data and Analytics organization, working closely with other teams involved in various customer communications.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply advanced analytics to engineer customized, data driven, timely sales leads focused on Mortgage retention and acquisition

  • Support ongoing execution and generation of data-driven Mortgage sales leads

  • Prepare and distribute summaries of Mortgage lead program performance

  • Apply advanced analytics to support optimizing lead distribution and maximizing production from Mortgage sales leads

  • Conduct customer analyses to support Mortgage lead strategy development, assessment and revision

  • Maintain and improve processes/programs for generating and delivering sales leads and other related information flows

  • Manage and analyze call disposition data to optimize lead selection and assess performance

  • Document and communicate analytic insights for both technical and non-technical audiences, often within an Agile working structure

  • Implement experimental designs with guidance from Principal/Senior Data Scientists

  • Automate various standard procedures including data flows, monitoring, & quality control

  • Continuously innovate through exploration of new techniques, platforms and data sources

Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science/Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or related fields

  • Strong programming skills and ability to utilize a variety of data/analytic software languages/tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, etc.)

  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues who have a background in statistics, database development/maintenance, and information technology

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required with an ability to communicate analytic results, business insights and resulting business implications to non-technical business partners

  • 0-3 years of experience in Analytics particularly with Financial Services applications
