Summary of the Custodian position:

• Location: Columbus, Nebraska
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, year-round
• Pay: $17.14/hour

Responsibilities of the Custodian:

• Follow a written cleaning program as directed by the head custodian and buildings and grounds supervisor.
• Assist in snow removal and keep grounds free from rubbish.
• Report needed repairs and any damage to school property promptly.
• Maintain building security by opening and closing premises daily and ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, requesting replacements as needed.
• Support building administrators with night activities and events.
• Move furniture and equipment as required for various school activities.

Requirements for the Custodian position:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in custodial and general maintenance work preferred.
• Ability to adhere to district rules and safety regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.

Physical Requirements for the Custodian position:

• Occasional sitting, bending/stooping, reaching/pulling, climbing and driving.
• Constant standing and walking.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and carry items up to 20 feet.

Working Conditions of the Custodian position:

• Work may occasionally be performed outside in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to climatic environments including air-conditioned buildings.
• Hazards may include hot surfaces, fuels and solvents, low pressure steam, moving machinery, high voltage, dust, water pressure and heights.
