The Job You Will Perform:

The Electrical Process Leader is responsible for achieving business results and provides leadership to all facets of maintenance, engineering and construction resources on various projects. Helps build and support a high performance work system. Champions the IP Way and the one-to-one process. The individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper Columbus Mill.Reports to the Mill Reliability Manager.

Daily Tasks:

  • Issues affecting total plant site electrical distribution system.

  • Support the interface with the local utility on maintenance and power supply quality. Per IP Guideline G-3006, there are others required to support the interface with the local utility including the Power BUM, Mill Purchasing Manager, and the EPD Champion.

  • Support load, demand, and power factor parameters for efficient and reliable power delivery.

  • Power flow, fault duty, and relay coordination of distribution system.

  • Recommend changes and upgrades to the system.

  • Monitor other projects and potential projects as they effect the power system now and in the future.

  • Assure compliance with NEC, Factory Mutual, ANSI, IEEE, and other regulatory bodies.

  • Directs several other engineers (International Paper and consultants) as well as process specialists, procurement specialists, scheduling/commissioning specialists, and hourly core team members.

  • Provides significant technical support to many aspects of Maintenance, Engineering, and Production.

  • Support major projects utilizing proprietary technologies and/or newly developed processes.

  • Functions as part of multi-disciplined teams on larger corporate projects as the need arises.

  • Process owner for Columbus Mill electrical mill standards; oversees development of new, and revisions to, existing standards; assures standards comply with codes.

  • Oversees duties of the EPD champion and assists in the mill’s EPD champion initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support setting a vision for EPD that aligns with Facility

  • Support the overall success & sustainability of the EPD process

  • Support all EPD best practices and ensure they are utilized & effectively monitor

  • Oversees duties of the Motor Champion. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Motor GMS Element leader in achieving delivery while maintaining a broader perspective

  • Support the Motor Reliability deliberate improvement plan

  • Oversees duties of the IEPM Champion. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support setting a vision for IEPM that aligns with facility goals

  • Supports the overall success & sustainability of the IEPM process

  • Support all IEPM best practices and ensure they are utilized & effectively monitor

  • Oversees duties of the Drive Champion. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support setting a vision for Drives that aligns with facility goals

  • Supports the overall success & sustainability of the drive program

  • Supports all Drives best practices and ensure they are utilized & effectively monitor

The Skills You Will Bring:

Successful candidate should have:

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

  • Professional Engineer License desirable

  • Minimum 8 years’ reliability experience.

  • 5 years’ pulp & paper experience with engineering, operations & maintenance.

  • Planning and supervisory experience with maintenance

  • Advanced Project Management, planning and scheduling skills

  • Excellent technical planning and problem solving skills.
