Cummins Inc. Quality Technician - Level II in Columbus, Indiana

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Quality Technician – Level II to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Quality Assurance : By monitoring materials quality and making necessary adjustments, you will ensure that production processes meet high standards.

  • Defect Identification : Comparing physical characteristics to technical specifications will help in identifying and addressing defects early, improving overall product quality.

  • Testing and Reliability : Conducting simple tests on electrical functions, reliability, and packaging quality will contribute to the robustness and dependability of products.

  • Accurate Documentation : Maintaining and supporting documentation and records will provide a reliable reference for production and inspection processes.

  • Customer Support : Assisting customers in understanding product specifications and measurement data will enhance customer satisfaction and trust.

  • Technical Reporting : Recording results and preparing technical reports will facilitate informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

  • Equipment Maintenance : Ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of measurement and test equipment will keep tools in optimal condition, supporting accurate measurements.

  • Measurement Uncertainty Studies : Participating in these studies will help refine measurement processes, leading to more precise and reliable results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Customer Focus : Develop strong relationships with customers by understanding their needs and delivering solutions that meet or exceed their expectations.

  • Decision Quality : Make informed and timely decisions that drive the organization forward. This involves analyzing data, considering various perspectives, and choosing the best course of action to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Measurement Science : Gain a deep understanding of measurement processes and the relevant traceability chain. This includes identifying and quantifying sources of measurement uncertainty in various fields such as Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Radiation, and Physical metrology.

  • Quality Process Management : Apply quality tools and methods proficiently to ensure the quality of products, processes, and services. Familiarize yourself with techniques like APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Capability studies, Process Audits, and inspections to maintain high standards.

  • Laboratory Management : Lead technical resources effectively while managing the business aspects of the laboratory. Ensure that both technical and business requirements are met, and that the laboratory maintains the necessary certifications and accreditations.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
