Description

We are seeking an accountant to join our client's team based in Columbia, Maryland. This will be a hybrid role with 2X a week in the office. This role is primarily focused on inventory management and accounting tasks, within a dynamic team environment. The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial statements, conducting inventory reconciliation, performing a full spectrum accounting cycle, and assisting with audits.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate reflection of inventory balance, obsolescence reserve, warranty reserve, and cost of goods sold in financial statements.

• Collaborate with the Product Operations team to perform monthly inventory reconciliation.

• Lead in the physical count of inventory on a quarterly basis, documenting and researching discrepancies.

• Conduct a three-way match for all supplier invoices to ensure integrity between invoice, purchase order, and receiving report.

• Prepare the cost of goods sold journal entry for month-end close.

• Ensure timely recording of all supplier invoices.

• Assist with month, quarterly and annual close.

• Maintain various state accounts for sales and use tax and keep the sales and use tax exemption certificate(s) up to date.

• Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.

• Assist outside auditors by providing necessary account information and documents for semi-annual and annual audits.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Unanet software

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills
