Description

We are inviting applications for a hybrid Paralegal/Legal Assistant in Columbia, Maryland. This role is crucial to our team and offers an opportunity to work in a structured environment, making use of existing processes and procedures to solve standard problems. The position is within a contract-based employment structure and has the opportunity to go permanent if it is a good fit.

We are encouraging anyone with strong prior legal administrative experience and robust analytical skills to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze loan documents and online transactions to ensure they follow rules and regulations.

  • Conduct thorough reviews, prepare reports, identify trends, and suggest improvements for better loan processing.

  • Identify and fix issues, research information, create necessary documents, and handle complex transactions.

  • Provide advice on difficult transactions.

  • Determine when to escalate issues and make exceptions to guidelines.

  • Refer major issues to senior management.

  • Participate in projects to improve processes.

  • Lead teams and provide guidance as needed.

    Requirements

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong research and analytical skills in reviewing documentation and online transactions.

  • Thorough understanding of contractual terms, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in conducting comprehensive and accurate reviews, including report preparation and analysis.

  • Ability to identify trends, insights, and potential concerns such as fraud.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to determine and implement appropriate actions.

  • Proficiency in researching product information, terms, conditions, and contracts.

  • Excellent communication skills for creating necessary correspondence and consulting on complex issues.

  • Ability to process complex and corrective transactions, both monetary and non-monetary.

  • Skilled in determining appropriate contact and escalation levels and making exceptions to guidelines.

  • Experience in referring major issues to senior management.

  • Ability to participate in projects aimed at process improvements.

  • Leadership skills with experience in directing team efforts and providing guidance.
