Reports To: Facilities & Safety Manager

The Janitorial Technician is responsible for ensuring that Nomad’s facilities are clean and orderly, projecting a professional environment to staff, guests, and clients. This position includes preventative maintenance duties (75%) and janitorial duties (25%).

Essential Functions / Responsibility:

  • Work independently and complete tasks within designated time frames / cleaning schedule.

  • Pay attention to detail, which assists in keeping Nomad’s facilities clean and presentable.

  • Clean front lobbies, hallways / stairs, conference rooms, breakrooms, and restrooms in all buildings as established by cleaning schedule.

  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop carpets and floors.

  • Empty garbage cans and clean cans, as necessary.

  • Empty recycling bins, as necessary.

  • Restock restrooms with supplies as required.

  • Clean and disinfect restroom mirrors, sinks, and toilets / urinals.

  • Clean ceiling vents, screens, and glass doors.

  • Wipe down handrails, using disinfectant cleaning solution.

  • Wipe down walls if necessary.

  • Wipe down conference room tables, using disinfecting cleaning solution.

  • Dust front lobby furniture.

  • Vacuum conference room chairs if needed.

  • Dust light fixtures and replace various kinds of light bulbs when needed.

  • Restock breakrooms with paper plates, cups, napkins, plastic utensils as needed.

  • Maintain cleaning supply inventory; stock and maintain supply rooms. Notify Facilities & Safety Manager when stock needs to be ordered.

  • Assist with grounds clean up, including picking up garbage on walkways, in the parking lots, along the building fronts, and other areas as required.

  • In warmer months, assist with weed maintenance around campus.

  • In winter months, assist with snow and ice removal from sidewalks.

  • Assist with moving small furniture within buildings, as needed.

  • Inform Facilities & Safety Manager or Facilities Lead of any unsafe condition or items requiring maintenance that is discovered during routine cleaning.

  • Perform other janitorial duties as assigned by Facilities & Safety Manager.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Learn the daily requirements of working within a team environment (safety, cleanliness, timeliness, honesty, integrity, teamwork,) and assist in strengthening yourself and the team in adherence to these principles.

  • Have good communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of various cleaning products, when and how to use them, and safety guidelines when working with chemical cleaners.

  • Knowledge of how to clean and disinfect correctly,

  • Ability to do a good job, not just run through the motions of each task.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.

  • At times, the employee will be required to work at heights up to 20 feet.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

    Working Environment:

  • The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F. There are times when working outside will be required.

  • The employee must have the ability to work from heights at the ground floor up to 20 feet from the ground on ladders or platforms of varying sizes.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

  • The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that MSDS.

  • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Previous janitorial / cleaning experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Must be dependable, arrive on time, and work entire scheduled shift.

  • Must have good communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Must be willing to listen, learn, and follow instructions.
