Job Description

The Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Credit Union Advocacy will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing Ent's legislative advocacy strategy. This person will be responsible for leading efforts to influence and shape public policy, build and strengthen relationships with key governmental stakeholders and regulatory bodies, and champion the interests of Ent, our members, and the credit union movement. The ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge and understanding of the credit union and financial services industries, exceptional relationship-building competencies, effective leadership skills, and a passion and drive for local and federal advocacy on behalf of Ent. The role is vital in ensuring Ent's interests are effectively represented and advanced in local, state, federal, regulatory, and legislative arenas, with a strategic focus on advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Functions Policy and Advocacy: Develop and execute a comprehensive advocacy strategy aligned with Ent's mission and goals. Provide leadership in identifying and addressing key policy and regulatory issues impacting the credit union industry and our members. Serve as Ent's main contact with regulatory agencies such as the Colorado Division of Financial Services, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Develop and maintain positive relationships with local, state, and national politicians from all parties. Monitor and track local, state, and national House and Senate hearings as they relate to Ent's business. Lead and coordinate fundraising efforts for credit union-specific Political Action Committee. Manage legislative advocacy initiatives within Ent. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, industry leaders, community organizations, credit union leagues, and national associations. Build and maintain relationships with various Chambers of Commerce, participating in policy advisory meetings and influencing regional policy discussions. Act as Ent's representative to the National Association of State-Chartered Credit Unions and other relevant national organizations. Strategic Leadership: Partner with Ent's leaders to identify and address key policy and regulatory issues impacting Ent and our members. Create and execute a legislative strategy that aligns with medium- and long-range policy goals. Collaborate closely with Ent leaders in Marketing and Community Impact to help elevate and enhance Ent's image and brand in the communities we serve and, relatedly, use our community impact efforts to enhance our legislative advocacy efforts. Communication and Messaging: Coordinate messaging and testimony on legislative issues at all levels of government. Partner with GoWest Credit Union Association and America's Credit Unions by representing Ent at meetings, conferences, and committees. Reporting and Evaluation: Track and report on the effectiveness of advocacy initiatives and their impact on Ent's goals and the credit union movement. Adjust strategies as needed based on feedback, results, and changing circumstances. Member Engagement: Engage with Ent members o understand their concerns and interests related to advocacy and incorporate their feedback into strategic initiatives. Promote member involvement in advocacy efforts by mobilizing grassroots support. Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's Degree or an Advanced degree in related field. preferred 12+ years' relevant work experience in legal, regulatory, or legislative advocacy roles. 6+ years' experience leading teams and collaborating across an organization to build influence and successfully impact change. Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Understanding of the financial services industry, credit unions specifically. Communication Presentation, and Interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute complex advocacy strategies. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ability to adjust communication style to a variety of audiences. Ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment. Relationship building skills. Leadership and team management experience.
