Akima Support Operations Dispatcher, Motor Vehicle (Transportation) in Colorado Springs, Colorado

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the dispatching of motor vehicles. The Dispatcher records time of departure, destination and expected time of return. The Dispatcher may confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, delayed or damaged vehicles, maintain record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses. The Dispatcher may deliver vehicles, issue equipment to drivers, (such as radios, logbooks and keys), assign helpers to drivers, and assign vehicles to customer agencies.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 1.Daily dispatch/turn in of vehicles requested for utilization. 2.Prepares and maintains appropriate dispatch records and accomplishes related functions for each dispatch. 3.Input data to show the current location and status of all vehicles, ensures that operators have a valid license for the type of vehicle dispatched 4.Deadline vehicles that have maintenance issues so the process for repairs can be initiated. 5.Notifies customer units/ activities of scheduled maintenance actions. 6.Ensures customers are informed of unusual weather conditions and know the procedures to be followed in case of vehicle breakdown, accident procedures, and emergency actions. 7.Moves, parks and delivers vehicles if needed, assists with bus missions as well as ensuring the fleet is clean for issue. 8.Fills in for the Dispatch Lead in their absence. 9.Performs additional duties as assigned.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Computer equipment, various software programs, fax and photocopier, hand radios, vehicles to include buses, stake beds, tractor trailers, box trucks.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs.; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; shoveling snow and plowing. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Vast knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Requires a thorough knowledge of office work and routine. Must be able to choose among widely varying methods and procedures to process complex transactions; select or devise steps necessary to complete assignments. Experience: Must possess a CDL Class B-P2 minimum, 2 years' experience in Office Clerical environment, with good knowledge of military operations and schedules. Must have good oral and written communication skills.

Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License prior to starting or by 30 days after employment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC. Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
