Job Summary The Food Service Worker (Cafeteria Worker) serves as a cafeteria and/or delicatessen/bakery worker helping in the preparation, presentation and serving of specialty meats, delicacies, preserved foods, cheeses, salads, breads, and sweets to patrons. The incumbent assists in weighing, pricing, and wrapping selected foods on plates, trays and in bags, prepares food displays in counter cases and other display units, greets customers as they arrive at service counter, takes special orders, and answers basic customer questions about specialty foods. Perform a wide variety of manual tasks in kitchen or dining area of a food activity, which involves light to moderate physical effort and is done according to established procedures. Takes payment and makes change for customers.
Primary Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review. *Set up food on self-serving lines and portion food for individual servings in accordance with instructions. Refill cold bars, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms. Replace glassware, dishes and silverware and refill condiment containers. Wipe and wash tables and countertops. Clean work area, utensils, and equipment; remove garbage; mop floors, walls, windows, and tables. Remove dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish washing machine and/or wash dishes, glassware, pots and pans and kitchen utensils by hand.
Additional Responsibilities Maintain in a sanitary condition equipment and work areas, utensils, and tables. Perform ware-washing, and keep pot and pan areas in order prior to, during and after the meals. Follow correct techniques, cleaning schedules and tasks. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s) High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred. One (1) food-service related experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service skills. Neat, well-groomed appearance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel and/ or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
