Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineer in Collinsville, IL who is passionate about electric utility design engineering . This position will begin as a six month contract, temporary role with the opportunity to turn into a permanent, direct hire position.

As a Distribution Engineer, You can expect to:

  • Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers

  • Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects, using customer GIS and WMS systems such as DDS, GDT, GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, and Maximo

  • Perform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities; Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned.

  • Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes that drive efficiency and high-quality standards in client design deliverables

  • Perform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-up

  • Gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications

  • Be comfortable in both a field and office setting: the role may require local or regional customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages

  • Work on a hybrid schedule, depending on project and client needs: 60%-80% working in office and 20%-40% working remotely/from home

Background Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience performing electric distribution design engineering either in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil preferred)

  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)

  • Prior Experience with execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approved

  • Demonstrated experience with customer interaction and process documentation

  • Ability to provide your own reliable transportation,as some local or regional customer-related travel may be anticipated(Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates).

  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills

You Might Also Have Some previous experience with:

  • Providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC.

  • Design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc

  • Experience using GIS-based software for performing Electrical Distribution design - e.g. ArcMap, DDS, GTech

Pay Range:

Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
