Job Purpose:

Fixed Term for 12 months.

The Statistics and Data Science Innovation Hub (SDSIH) department is a group of expert technical statisticians and data scientists developing cutting edge statistical methodologies and consulting on the application of advanced techniques to expedite delivery of our portfolio. Our team is accountable for several high priority projects, spanning Development aimed at accelerating our portfolio and driving new paradigms through data-enabled disruption of our clinical drug development model.

The Program Director will be accountable for overseeing and managing a select portfolio of transformative projects. The priority focus will be on cross-enterprise projects but may also include selected other projects led by SDSIH senior leaders, according to project priorities and capacity.

The role will orchestrate and expedite project delivery within scope, budget and agreed schedule to realise organisational outcomes and benefits. As part of this they will need to be adept at implementing and operating strong project governance and associated project management controls and processes.

This role involves close collaboration with senior leaders and will be required to collaborate with other project and change managers across R&D.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide hands-on portfolio and project management support for priority SDSIH-led projects to ensure successful and expedited delivery of key projects.

Assist SDSIH leadership in developing and communicating the program's overall vision and direction.

Oversee relationships with accountable senior leaders and collaborate with other project and change managers to ensure cohesive delivery.

Develop and maintain comprehensive portfolio and project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, resources, and budgets.

Effectively track and report project progress, risks, issues, and KPIs/benefits. Proactively manage project team delivery/inputs and stakeholder expectations, ensuring ongoing alignment on project scope/objectives and outcomes/benefits.

Proactively identify and assess risks, dependencies, and issues. Facilitate the development and tracking of effective mitigation plans to minimize impacts on project delivery/success.

Monitor resource capacity/requirements, identifying necessary adjustments for efficient delivery. Integrate plans with SDSIH's Jira-based project & capacity overview approach.

Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers

Oversee the development of project documentation/information and storage, leveraging digital tools for efficiency (e.g. Jira, MS SharePoint/Teams).

Operate effective quality management processes to ensure that project deliverables meet the necessary quality standards and success criteria. Conduct/facilitate periodic project reviews / health checks to assess project performance and compliance and manage corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project processes and outcomes.

Manage controlled project closure and transition to BAU.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.

Strong experience in project management roles. Played a key role in providing project management support to the delivery of complex technical programs which have delivered tangible business value.

Experience working across organisational boundaries in global companies (via ndustry or consulting roles).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Experience working on a breadth of types of digital/tech transformation projects with experience in statistical, data science, AI environment in particular

Demonstrated ability to provide effective project management support within project delivery teams in a matrix management environment to drive well-coordinated and high-quality work.

Experience and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.

Experience in delivering data-related transformation projects.

Experience with use of Jira and agile methodology.

Preferred Qualifications

PPM certification such as PMP, MSP, PRINCE2 etc., preferred

Advanced degree

Statistical degree
