Pfizer Director, Specialty Pharmacy Provider (SPP) Strategy & Patient Engagement in St. Louis, Missouri

Role Summary

Pfizer is hiring multiple strategy positions to support the Oncology (Oral and IV-administered) product portfolio.

This role is responsible for setting the Specialty Pharmacy Provider (SPP) strategy for Pfizer's oncology products to drive optimal medication access and patient adherence.Responsibilities include working with the brand teams to develop patient support programs, in conjunction with Specialty Pharmacy Provider Customers, to remove patient access barriers to Pfizer medications and prevent patients from early therapy discontinuation. The individual should possess a combination of creative, strategic and analytical skills with strong communication/ presentation capabilities to help achieve the business unit goals through the SPP customer channel.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Specialty Pharmacy Provider (SPP) strategy and tactical plan for US oncology products inclusive of the product distribution model and minimizing barriers for patients to start and stay on the prescribed Pfizer medication through the SPP customer channel.

  • Identify market trends and develop proactive strategies/solutions to support the oncology patient treatment journey through the SPP customer channel.

  • Define and maintain the product distribution models to ensure patients have access to Pfizer's products.

  • Subject matter expert of the patient's treatment and prescription journey at the product-specific level to understand patient pain points to start and stay on therapy. Collaborate with brand teams (medical, consumer, market research), Specialty Access Solutions (SAS) data analytics, SAS patient services and SPP clinical teams to align on addressable pain points and solutions.

  • Point of contact with brand team to communicate product performance (medication fills, compliance and persistency), challenges and trends within the SPP customer channel.

  • Lead SPP quarterly product insights reviews with brand teams in collaboration with SAS data analytics team.

  • Through SPP quarterly insights, internal data dashboards and SPP customer insights maintain a continuous understanding of SPP product performance to identify risks and solutions to overcome issues (i.e. Rx abandonment, fill rates, time to fill, early therapy discontinuation, lack of medication/ disease education, side effect management, importance of compliance and persistency).

  • Lead appropriate agenda items, including meeting follow up actions, for SPP customer periodic business reviews (PBRs) and customer meetings focused on individual products in collaboration with brand teams, SAS operations, SAS analytics and Specialty National Account Directors.

  • Collaborate with brand, market research and medical teams to ideate, develop and implement innovative patient support programs to support medication fill rates and improve compliance and persistency to patients' on a Pfizer product through the SPP clinical staff.

  • Collaborate with the Specialty National Account Directors to consult with SPP customers on design of patient support programs as well as seek insights into the patient treatment journey and market trends.

  • Develop concept review presentations and business rationale documentation to outline the patients' needs and clinical rationale to implement patient support programs directly to patients on a Pfizer product through SPP customers. Obtain approval from legal, privacy and drug safety unit in collaborate with SAS operations team.

  • Develop patient support program materials, submit RC submissions into GCMA and gain brand medical , legal and regulatory approvals.

  • Provide patient forecasts for SPP patient support programs and collaborate with SAS operations to create estimated costs for programs. Provide program budget forecasts and manage with brand teams/ finance.

  • Collaborate with SAS operations team to engage in contract development (based on fair market value) for SPP patient support programs, reviews, and redlining procedures to enhance resolution and ensure risk mitigation in strong partnership with legal.

  • Ensure that the implementation of patient support programs, through SPP customers, are aligned and in compliance with all Pfizer, regulatory and legal policies, and procedures by working closely with SAS operations, legal, privacy, global procurement and drug safety unit teams.

  • Develop training materials for patient support programs for SPP clinical staff. Conduct program training with the SPP clinical staff.

  • Establish metrics to assess patient support programs. Monitor patient support program performance and adjust as needed.

  • Identify and communicate situations, issues, or emerging areas that are potentially in conflict with Pfizer SPP/Data SOPs and policies to the Sr Director/Team Leader and/or assigned compliance/legal partner.

  • Troubleshoot field-based requests relating to product supply and distribution of Pfizer products.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across multiple departments such as Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Procurement, Drug Safety Unit, Brand Teams, Medical, Regulatory, Specialty National Account Directors, SAS Operations, SAS Data Analytics, USMA Access Leads, Payer Brand Marketers, Field-based Representatives, Trade, Digital and SPP customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Bachelor's degree minimum required.

  • Experience in Oncology therapeutic areas both oral and IV-administered products.

  • Required: Minimum 10+ years of successful experience in Pharmaceutical and /or with Specialty Pharmacy, in commercial functions involving strategy development and/or strategic initiatives (e.g., consumer brand marketing, HCP brand marketing, payer brand marketing, clinical patient education, specialty pharmacy).

  • Understands the specialty product and patient medication fill and adherence journeys.Ability to identify gaps and solutions to minimize Rx abandonment and/or early therapy discontinuation.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to tee up the right questions, identify alternative scenarios, articulate resulting implications, and develop recommendations for decision-making or action.

  • Creative thinking mindset to design consumer solutions that meet their needs in managing their medical condition and medication to live a healthier life.

  • Clinical mindset with ability to clearly articulate medication profiles, complex regimens and adverse events.

  • Demonstrates strong strategic and analytic skills sets.

  • Ability to consult with Specialty Pharmacy customers (Clinicians) and align on mutual collaborations.

  • Understands trends and market dynamics in US healthcare and biopharmaceuticals, is aware of competitor strategies, and understands the potential impact to medication access and adherence.

  • Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for the BUs.

  • Strong communications with ability to present to senior leadership teams.

  • Ability to respond effectively to multiple priorities and tight timelines; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to effectively work in a matrix organization.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.   • The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $145,400.00 to $242,400.00.
