Federal Aviation Administration Community Planner in College Park, Georgia

Summary The incumbent serves as a planner responsible for various airport and aviation planning activities for the Office of Airports (ARP). Responsibilities Reviews airport and aviation planning documents. Coordinates findings with experienced planner or manager to ensure compliance with requirements. Performs a combination of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team for projects/programs within a defined area of responsibility. Applies experience and detailed knowledge to plan and accomplish assignments. Reviews airport master plans prepared by sponsors, state aeronautical agencies, and metropolitan planning agencies. Provide initial review of Airport Layout Plans prepared by airport sponsors. Collects and performs initial review of sponsor submittals for the development of the Airport ADO/RO Layout Airports Plans Capital prepared Improvement Program (ACIP). Assists environmental specialists in the collection of data and develops documents required for satisfying requirements of National Environmental Policy Act and other environmental programs. Refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional when guidelines are not available or applicable. Work typically is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness, policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities. Qualifications In addition to the basic education requirement, to qualify for this position: You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F, FG/GS-5/7/9 levels. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience for this position should include: - Experience in applying planning design principles. - Experience in evaluating planning plans, studies or reports. - Experience gathering and analyzing data from a variety of sources. Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited U.S. educational institution in terms of equivalence to a degree acquired at an American college or university. A copy of the evaluation results must be included, otherwise your foreign education will not be considered. Degree: community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
