rrPosition Summary:

rIdaho Water Resources Research Institute (IWRRI) is being re-imagined to become a nationally recognized research institute focused on integrated water systems. The Assistant Director of the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute (IWRRI) will be responsible to support leadership, revitalization, and expansion of the institute to lead research, outreach, engagement and Extension programs and activities in developing solutions to Idaho\'s, the region\'s, the nation\'s and the world\'s water challenges through interdisciplinary research, outreach and information transfer. Primary roles for the Assistant Director will be to support development and implementation of new plans for IWRRI to develop a useful, pertinent stakeholder network, identify opportunities for impactful research outreach, and Extension activities, support organizational capability at University of Idaho and other Idaho universities, and assist in the securing of external resources to support impactful activities by, and growth of, IWRRI. This position is a full-time staff position.

rrMinimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a field related to water resources (sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, or professional degree acceptable)

{=html} <!-- --> - Professional experience in water resources - Managing projects independently that involve multiple stakeholders - Supervisory experience - Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with researchers, faculty, staff, administrators, public, private and/or governmental offices and agencies - Experience building relationships between stakeholders (industry, government, academia, etc.) - Experience with one or more of the following relating to water resources: - Policy - Law - Business - Science - Engineering

rrPreferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience gained in a non-academic setting (e.g. industry)
  • Demonstrated experience with university research and extension
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water resource issues in Idaho and surrounding region
  • Demonstrated experience to foster an inclusive environment and the ability to skillfully navigate contentious issues
  • Outstanding communications skills. Excellent demonstrated written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented attitude
  • Outstanding leadership experience and qualities
  • Excellent team builder and relationship builder with demonstrated experience building impactful cross-disciplinary team
  • Ability to think clearly under pressure
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
