Position Type: Middle School Teaching Date Posted: 7/1/2024 Location: Cloquet Middle School 4th and 5th Grade Student Success Mentor Student Success Mentor will implement a comprehensive Check and Connect intervention program to enhance students' engagement and success in school. A significant portion of this position will focus on supporting students in building competencies in reading skills such as decoding, morphology, vocabulary, fluency, and/or comprehension using diagnostic assessments and aligned targeted interventions. This position will work with students and families to design and implement intervention plans for at-risk students, and they will follow the Check and Connect model with fidelity. They will develop and implement academic and non-academic interventions based on student needs. Build relationships as part of a practical mentoring approach Help students participate in school Helps students navigate school and track progress Personalize interventions and target strategies to meet student's needs, including but not limited to reading interventions, social-emotional interventions, and attendance and behavioral interventions, and academic interventions. Work collaboratively with families, teachers, and other adults to support the student. Collaborate with leadership, family engagement specialists, families, and district leadership. Make referrals for students and families. Helps students set personal education goals, including reading goals Allows students to problem solve and successfully meet and everyday demands of the school environment. Help students persist in the face of challenges. Engage in implementation training on the Check and Connect Model, Reading interventions, and SEL interventions. Education Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. Reading Specialist licensure or similar preferred Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
