Position Purpose
The Registered Professional Nurse at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center serves as a clinician, team member, and professional and practices under these roles according to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (2004). The Registered Professional Nurse is accountable for the delivery of evidence-based, safe, efficient and family centered care in order to achieve the Mission of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and the Vision of Patient Care Services.
What You Will Do
Practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined in the Iowa Nurse Practice Act (2006); retains accountability for one’s own nursing practice.
Responsible for planning, assessing, intervening, co-coordinating and providing direct patient care by utilizing critical thinking skills.
Communicates with physicians, ancillary care-givers, patients and families regarding the patient’s plan of care.
Fulfill the responsibility of holistic (body, mind and spirit) nursing care based on the mission, vision and values of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center.
Performs assessments including physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Active registration for Registered Nurse – Board of Nursing, State of Iowa.
Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
Must be ACLS and PALS certified within one year of hire.
TNCC within one year of hire.
Associate degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; must obtain within 6 years of hire, effective 04/01/2012.
Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization preferred.
Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Must be capable of problem solving, critical thinking, and assessment of patient condition.
Experience preferred.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
